This is the Crime Stoppers tips line and can be called 24 hours a day.  You may report information on criminal activity or wanted subjects anonymously.  If your information leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a reward.

#365-TAGS (365-8247)

This number is used for anonymously reporting drivers who may be driving erratically, speeding or exhibiting road rage.  you may also report persons who throw cigarette butts out of their cars.  This answering machine is available 24 hours a day and is checked daily.  Be prepared to provide the location of the infraction, type of infraction and tag number of the vehicle.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website is a great source of information relating to the activities and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s office.  You will also find links to other websites like the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Sexual Offenders and Predators, Clerk of the Court, Tax Collectors Office and Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, just to mention a few.

This is the website for the Sarasota County government.  One feature of the site is access to the 911 dispatch calls.  This information is updated approximately every fifteen minutes and provides dispatch information for all Sarasota fire departments, as well as the Sarasota Police Department and Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.  There is also a link to the dispatch site from http://www.sarasotasheriff.org

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has information available online regarding sexual offenders and predators.  By searching by address, you can get a list of any sexual offenders or predators that may be living in your area.

The Florida Attorney General’s Office sponsors a site that provides information on significant charitable organizations registered in the state.  Before donating to an unfamiliar charity, you might want to check it validity.  This information can be found on the website http://www.800HELPFLA.com.  The information is also available by calling 1-800-HELPFLA.  There is no charge for this information.

Seniors VS Crime

The Florida Attorney General’s Office also sponsors Seniors VS Crime.  Volunteers work with senior citizens who believe they may be the victim of some type of scam or unfair business deal.  There are two offices in Sarasota County.  The north county office is located in the administrative offices of the Senior Friendship Center at 1888 Brother Geenan Way, Sarasota.  The south county office is located at 101 N. Orange Street in Englewood.  Both offices are open Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
